Candidates & Gun Control

On one of my personal top issues, gun control, i agree with the ideas of John McCain... Here are a list of his views...the items in red are ones i don't agree with...
  • knows how to use guns; doesn't own one.
  • Prosecute criminals, not citizens for gun ownership.
  • Don't hold gun manufacturers liable for crimes.
  • Opposes restrictions on assault weapons and ammunition types.
  • Ban cheap guns; require safety locks; for gun show checks.
  • Supports ban on certain assault weapons.
  • Voted against Brady Bill & assault weapon ban.
  • Guns are a problem, but so are violent web sites & videos.
  • Punish criminals who abuse 2nd Amendment rights.
  • Youth Violence Prevention Act restricts guns for kids.
  • Repeal existing gun restrictions; penalize criminal use.
  • Voted YES on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers.
  • Voted YES on banning lawsuits against gun manufacturers for gun violence.
  • Voted NO on background checks at gun shows.
  • Voted YES on more penalties for gun & drug violations.
  • Voted YES on loosening license & background checks at gun shows.
  • Voted YES on maintaining current law: guns sold without trigger locks.
I disagree severely with Barack Obama. I once again highlighted the items i disagree with in red...
  • Provide some common-sense enforcement on gun licensing.
  • Cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month.
  • Stop unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in cities.
  • Keep guns out of inner cities--but also problem of morality.
  • Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions.
  • Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers.
Of course, i can hardly agree with anything coming from Mrs. Clinton...she is, in fact, a strait up idiot:
  • Against illegal guns, crack down on illegal gun dealers.
  • Backed off a national licensing registration plan on guns.
  • Get assault weapons & guns off the street.
  • Background check system could prevent Virginia Tech massacre.
  • Congress' failure at Littleton(columbine) response inspired Senate run.
  • Keep guns away from people who shouldn’t have them.
  • Limit access to weapons; look for early warning signs.
  • License and register all handgun sales.
  • Tough gun control keeps guns out of wrong hands.
  • Gun control protects our children.
  • Don’t water down sensible gun control legislation.
  • Lock up guns; store ammo separately.
  • Ban kids’ unsupervised access to guns.
  • Get weapons off the streets; zero tolerance for weapons.
  • Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers.
  • Voted NO on banning lawsuits against gun manufacturers for gun violence.

Faith beyond SM

At Grand Valley, there are services every sunday for every major religion (including catholicism), and there is a campus "Crusade for Christ". At Aquinas, which is a Catholic College, there are multiple student organizations, along with a lot of diferent mission trips throughout the year. Also, there is also a chapel on campus, which has services every day.

Senior Trip

We met this morning with Mr. Gaubatz to discuss our senior trip. Everyone seems to be leaning toward a mission trip, but personally, I dont like the idea of going on a mission trip anywhere. It seems like a waste to spend money to go somewhere to work, when we can do the same thing here for practically nothing. In talking it over with my parents, they see it the same way, and are not willing to spend a bunch of money i need for college to go somewhere to work. Quite frankly, i think the idea of doing work around here and going on a trip somewhere would be cool, and im not up for going halfway or all the way across the country to work.

Dr. Meeker's Speech

Well, apparently Im supposed to write about Dr. Meeker's speech here, but I didnt go, I went deer hunting that night... so yea, ill find some info on her and list it here. Thats about the best I can do.

From what i heard from other people, it was a good presentation, and very different from other presentations we've had in the past. I guess it was a pretty good one...

From what I can gather about her: She's written about four books regarding teen sex and std's, and has worked for over 20 years in pediatric and adolescent medicine, counseling teens and parents. She lives in Traverse City, with her husband and four kids.
